Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would have by now heard all about the newest music festival set to hit our shores for the very first time this summer in the form of Good Things Festival. A brand new festival for the rock and punk inclined, making its way up our East coast this December with dates in Melbourne at the Melbourne Showgrounds on December 7th, Sydney at Parramatta Park on December 8th, and Brisbane at the Brisbane Showgrounds on December 9th. Good things are coming our way indeed, with a mammoth line up including Floridians Mayday Parade, only a year following their last visit to our shores.

Mayday Parade are a five piece from Tallahassee, Florida, formed by the merging of two bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. Originally made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Jason Lancaster, vocalist Derek Sanders, guitarist Alex Garcia, drummer Jake Bundrick, guitarist Brooks Betts, and bassist Jeremy Lenzo, it was only a matter of months following the release of the band’s debut studio album ‘A Lesson In Romantics in 2007 before Lancaster parted ways with the remainder of the band. Going on to release a further five studio albums since, ‘Anywhere But Here in 2009, Mayday Parade in 2011, ‘Monsters In The Closet’ in 2013, ‘Black Lines in 2015, and most recently, ‘Sunnyland’ which was just released in June this year, the remainder of the band’s line-up has held steady since and remains current to this day.

Having quickly created a name for themselves within the pop-punk and alternative scenes, Mayday Parade have gained a dedicated following, including here in Australia. Their last visit to our shores in October last year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their debut album, ‘A Lesson In Romantics,’ saw them play six shows around to country to a mix of both all ages and 18+ crowds and was particularly well-received by fans both young and old who left everything they had within the walls of some of the country’s most well-known venues.

This time around, Mayday Parade are coming back to Australian shores armed with a new studio album under their wings. Released just a few months ago, fans are sure to be treated to a good selection of new material in a live setting for the first time, as well as some of the many fan favourites spanning their back catalogue. While these shows will be primarily in support of ‘Sunnyland,’ one thing is for certain – They will still be the same upbeat, high energy and enjoyable shows that Mayday Parade fans have come to know and love.

With a band with such a passion for performing live amongst it’s incredibly strong line up, Good Things are sure to bring with it good times indeed. Mark your calendars and get your tickets because this is not a band or a festival you are going to want to miss!
