Most people who have listened to music in their life will have heard a Living Colour song at least once; before you think of saying otherwise, you just need to “look into my eyes and you will see, the cult of personality.”

Not only are Living Colour coming back to Australia in December after being here last year, they’re also celebrating not one, but two milestones! Getting to speak with vocalist Corey Glover before the upcoming tour, he was quick to express, “We had a great time last year when we were there and the audiences were great! I personally can’t wait to get back there, have a good time and we’re also celebrating a few new milestones: the 30th anniversary of ‘Vivid’ and the fact we have a new record out.”

Touching further on the fact that the 30th anniversary of ‘Vivid’ is a highlight of the upcoming tour, Glover gave a very detailed insight when asked about his personal favourite song(s) on the album: “The song Broken Hearts is really cool; I hope we get to play it as we don’t play it all that often! I just love the idea of what it was, as it was our version of a ballad. I also love Middle Man, because it was one of the first songs we had written with this particular line-up. Then you throw in Which Way to America as it will be a lot of fun to do. Mind you, the one thing I’m most looking forward to with the 30th anniversary of ‘Vivid,’ is that we get to play songs we don’t normally play live.”

Considering Living Colour has been around for over three decades, this interviewer was curious as to what keeps the band motivated and driven after all these years. Glover delivered a short but impactful statement when he points outn “First and foremost, it’s the way we are creative when creating music; we like to talk about the things that we live. We need a creative outlet to talk about these things we’re living, seeing and experiencing, so we have to keep doing it!”

Stepping back to talk about the tour as a whole, Glover quips, “We’re going to play as much of ‘Vivid’ as we possibly can, which might end up being all of it! We’re going to throw in some stuff from newest album ‘Shade,’ as well as a mixture of songs from across our entire discography to give you as much of what we do as possible,” before talking about getting to visit Australia from a non-touring perspective: “Whilst we’re hitting up quite a few cities, I enjoy going to Melbourne and Sydney as they’re big cities and have a life to them. There are heaps of people there, before you throw in the food and the culture. Plus we get to see so much of what the people are about, whilst observing what’s going on in this part of the world. For the record by the way, I like Perth a lot. I don’t why, but I do!” before ending with a small chuckle.

Being a man who was straight to the point throughout the interview, Glover delivered a short but sharp closer as he stated, “You know when you know that it’s going to be a great show and a great time. Come on down and make sure you don’t miss it!”
