Everyone Look Busy

“There has been an awakening… have you felt it?”

Melbourne has been the home of many excellent Metal, Gothic and dark alternative nightclubs over the years. However, with DV8 closing its doors several years ago, a hole was left in the hearts of Melbourne Metalheads who could no longer get their weekly dose of Metallica, Lamb of God, Slipknot and more in a club setting. There have been a couple of events stepping into the void, notably Haunt and Ragnarok, but DV8 was a weekly event, and there are still a lot of gaps in the Metal clubbing calendar. Punters rejoice – Apocalypse is stepping in to fill some of those gaps!

Apocalypse is an entirely new Metal club launching on Friday 9 March, to be held upstairs at the Royal Melbourne Hotel (629 Bourke Street). The venue will already be familiar to many punters as the site of the famed BANG! nightclub. The upstairs area is a great place for a club, long and vaulted with plenty of space for dancing, and a well-stocked bar for all your liquid needs.
Of course, we’re all focused on the music, and Apocalypse offers a smorgasbord of tunes to appeal to the broad taste of Melbourne’s Metalheads. Alongside the classics of Metallica, Apocalypse will be playing modern Metal the likes of Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and System of a Down; getting you dancing with the pumping Industrial Metal of Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Ministry; and raising pure darkness with Black and Death Metal including Dark Tranquillity, Cradle of Filth and Arch Enemy. Melodic tastes will also be catered for, with Apocalyptica, Halestorm and Sabaton on the menu.

Aside from the music, the punters themselves are a major part of the experience. Melbourne is fortunate to have a friendly and welcoming Metal community, with folks from all walks of life coming together to enjoy heavy music and a brewski. Even if you’ve never been to a club before, are new to the Metal scene in general, or perhaps have only just moved to Melbourne, you’ll find the community embraces you with open arms – and a circle pit or two, if that’s your style. So why not come along to Apocalypse and meet some of the best folks in Melbourne? Once you’ve been through their doors, you’re guaranteed to start seeing familiar faces pop up at gigs, and at the next Apocalypse event, of course.

Apocalypse is a new event, and the organisers are pulling out all the stops to make sure you have an excellent time! In fact, they’re so dedicated to ensuring a brilliant night, they’re offering a money-back guarantee. If you don’t have a good time, just let them know and they’ll get things sorted out! It’s not often you see an offer like that. You literally have nothing to lose!

Events like Apocalypse live or die on people through the door in the first instance, so the best way you can support the club, and the scene, is to come along! And if you buy your tickets pre-sale, you’ll get $5 off the door price. Finally, if you feel so inclined, give the event a share, and invite all your mates along as well. Let’s make this night HUGE.
